I kept buying shoes and wearing the same two pairs. So I started writing down what I actually put on each morning.
Every day I photograph the pair I wore, note my step count, and record the weather I wore it in. I don't go back and edit the numbers — wear counts are stated as of a date, and that's the whole point.
The collection tracks how each pair is holding up.
Every pair here is written up at set wear milestones — 1, 10, 25, 50 and 100 wears — and each later entry is free to contradict the one before it. A verdict written at ten wears is frequently wrong by fifty. That revision is the point of the format, not an embarrassment to be quietly edited away.
Where an entry corrects an earlier one, the correction is marked on both entries and links between them. Nothing is rewritten after publication. The earlier judgment stays where it was made.
Wears are counted, one record per pair per day, and every count on the site is shown with the date of the most recent record. Nothing here is live. Some pairs were worn before counting began; where that is true, the untracked period is noted as context and never added to the total.
Entries are sent by email as they are published. This site is the archive: one permanent address per pair, holding the complete arc in order.
